  • Name: Mr.Pritesh M.Shah

    Designation: Director

    Company: Prima Equipment

Question one- Yours is an established brand in environment monitoring gas analysers’ instruments. Tell us something about the Prima Equipment’s history.

Company established in the year 1992 with aim to have effective contribution in the fields of Environment, Safety and Pollution monitoring in industries as well in community area for the benefit of healthy life and green & clean environment in India.

Started with capital of Rs.140 and having an experience of selling some of imported brands of gas detector in India while working with multinational organization at Mumbai.

First few years, we represented products of Ultrasonic Technology and Gas Detectors' manufacturers.

As from inception we have decided to manufacture and promote Indigenous technology products keeping our moto as  “Think Globally….Search Locally”.

Hence few years later in the year 1998, with technical help from our strong indigenous partners, we started providing custom built solutions for Environment and Pollution measuring equipment and thus we entered into manufacturing of Gas Analyzer with indigenous developed technology.

We first built the Continuous Emission Monitoring System CEMS for one of our customer in Andhra Pradesh for mini power plant to replace existing imported measurement device in the year 1999.

Since than we have been indigenously designing and have been manufacturing many customized solutions for Gas Analyser, Detector for the application related to Occupational Health, Safety and Pollution / Environment monitoring applications.

After getting registered as MSME status, we achieved and continued to have TUV accreditation for ISO 9001(Design) since the year 1996 and further many more including product certification for CE- Conformity to European Standards.

Today PRIMA is well trusted, appreciated and indigenously manufactured established brand.

Question two- Prima Equipment also exports its products. Which countries are its main buyers?

Yes, currently we do a very small quantity of exports. However, it is increasing very fast as we are getting many positive acceptance in developing countries. So, far we have exported our products to south Asian countries and African countries. We are expecting very soon to export in Middle east countries too.

Question three- What and how significant role do gas detection and monitoring equipment play in improving efficiency of the industrial process they are employed in ?

Gas detection and monitoring plays a Very significant role in any contest where health and hygiene matter is under considerations for human existence. I always say one example that we as parents know how we show our love for our children…… on holidays we take our family to nice restaurant and multiplex, spent  thousands of bucks and try to prove that we love our children. However, what we do next morning in our industry, we show ignorance on emission of pollution and polluting environment and surely putting our future generations on threat for unhealthy atmosphere and their life.

We must understand that Measuring of pollution emission is not only for statuary requirement, however it definitely helps to measure the efficiency of our installed pollution control devices, thus increasing the atmosphere conditions.

I strongly feel that we should to take environment pollution monitoring and controlling as self-initiative drive rather considering as statutory force requirement.

Question four- Is the Prima Equipment a family-owned company?   What is the nature of its ownership?

As I shared earlier, PRIMA was started by me in the year 1992 and it is a proprietorship company. Business has come naturally  to me as I belong to a family which has business in its veins since 7 generations.

Question five- What has been the company’s turnover and profit in the last fiscal?

We have crossed INR 123 millions of business in last year. I do not remember exact figure of profit, however we have contributed near to INR 6.0 millions as income tax for the growth of our nation.

Question six- Has your company been hit by the demonetisation?

Not at all, I personally believe that this has helped more to stream line the finance and to make our belief stronger in Gandhian philosophy of Ethical business practice.

Question seven –Do you think the Modi government at the Centre and the Gujarat state government are doing well towards promoting micro scale industries like Prima Equipment?

My response is straight -Yes.  However, since childhood we are into comparison attitude. I personally believe that every person has different working methodology and the vision he carries for his state or nation. I remember the speech of our Hon.PM in 2013 Vibrant Gujarat when he was CM of Gujarat State…His speech covered all the matters related to problems and opportunities of MSME sector industries. What surprised me was that he was narrating exactly point by point  the matters we MSME experience day to day in running industry. This gives us confidence and assurance that leaders know and understand our problems and requirements.

Question eight- Your take on Make In India vision?

Since inception of PRIMA, we take pride to be 'Made In India' product manufacturer. Since our beloved PM has initiated Make In India campaign, we are always mentioning “ We are proud to be part of Made In India, Make In India initiative of Hon. Prime Minister of India”.

Question nine- Any expansion or diversification plan in near future?

We have already expanded our manufacturing capacity to three times since January 2017. We have also started manufacturing of Import substitute Gas Analyzer Technology and are going to launch it at Chemtech 2017 Expo. We are into process of opening our manufacturing unit in Middle East country, USA & U.K. shortly to cater exports market. We have core competency in gas detection and gas analyzer technology, hence no diversification is planned in near future.

Question ten- What is your company’s USP, something that makes you stand apart from rest of the competitors?

We stand as custom built manufacturer. We provide solutions rather than providing only equipment.
